Remarks : due to a typographical error, the name of this then newly described species was incorrectly published as F. coracifolia [sic] in Paul E. Berry. The Systematics and Evolution of Fuchsia Sect. Fuchsia (Onagraceae). Annuals of the Missouri Botanical Garden, 1982, Vol. 69, No. 1, pp. 1-199. The error was corrected to F. coriacifolia in Paul E. Berry. Nomenclatural Changes in the Genus Fuchsia. Annals of the Missouri Botanical Garden, 1988, Vol. 75, No. 3, p. 1150. Unfortunately, the corrected epithet is itself a grammatical error and misspelling. The Latin stems of coriacea + folia should have been joined as coriaceifolia, which is actually the correct spelling of this species.
