Remarks :
Named : ‘Portus’ The city of Pforzheim goes back to the Roman settlement of Portus, which was situated at a ford over the Enz River around 90 AD. Portus, Latin for harbour, refers to this ford. From this point on, the Enz was navigable for rafting, which was firmly established at that time. The protected excavation site at the Kappelhof in the immediate vicinity bears witness to this time.
