Distinguished by :
Named : After my father who was always ‘as happy as a sandboy’.
Awards : Gold Medal -seedling class, Rosecarpe Show 1968. Has won many awards at B.F.S. Shows.
Habit of growth : Compact, bushy, floriferous. Flowers early and blooms continuously over a long period. One of the few fuchsias which is successful as a houseplant. A good show variety – bush or standard. Cannot wait to get into bloom, so it may be necessary to remove early flower buds.
Apparent inherited characteristics : SANDBOY has the symmetrical shape of its seed parent (a single, produced from double parents). The corolla colour of this unnamed seedling resembled that of its pollen parent, FASCINATION. The colour of SANDBOY’S sepals shows the influence of the three known predecessors.
