Named : In recognition of its Rosecarpe award in 1969
Awards : Silver Medal – seedling class, Rosecarpe Show.
Habit of growth : Upright, vigorous, floriferous. A long succession of blooms cascade from the plant, the branches bending gracefully under their weight. Makes a good standard or bush. Hardy out of doors on the Northumberland coast.
Apparent inherited characteristics : The first cross produced a batch of single seedlings which were all red and white. The best received a Bronze Medal at a Rosecarpe Show and crossing this seedling back to WHITE SPIDER lengthened the corolla. The seed parent (DISPLAY) dominated the colour of the sepals of both generations. It is interesting to note that, as a pollen parent, WHITE SPIDER invariably produces seedlings with flawless corollas, usually white or paler than that of the seed parent, its influence on shape being noticeable. Hardiness is inherited from DISPLAY.
