Remarks : George Bartlett writes ‘grown and cultivated in the Netherlands under the name of ‘Deutsche Perle’, sometimes confused with ‘Wassernymph’ (unidentified) that has tube and sepals of the palest pink whilst the petals in the corolla are salmon orange’, The original decription in GC p18 13/1/1855 mentions Water Nymph as a cultivar with white corolla and the cultivar description reads ‘WATER NYMPH (Story’s) – Bright scarlet crimson globe stout wide petal, corolla fine clear white, an elegant flower’- a confusing description that is transferred in Eric Johns – Fuchsias of the 19th and early 20th Century as ‘single, Red/White, Tube scarlet crimson, Sepals scarlet crimson, Corolla clear white’, GC p208 1856 gives a similar description : ‘ WATER NYmph Story’s, tube light scarlet crimson, corolla fine clear white
